SCIENCE FICTION MUST BE FUNNY TO BE READ
Yes folks, I enjoy a good science fiction book, as long as the humor is extreme. Of course, one of the Masters is Douglas Adams. Who can read along with the adventures that began with Ford Prefect and not roll with laughter? What's that? I can't understand you. Let me get my babble fish in place...
Another great Master of sci-fi hilarities would be Harry Harrison (that's right, he can be funny, too). The Stainless Steel Rat is one of the best series of books I have read. Jim DiGriz or McGyver? Anyone care for a porcuswine burger? Harrison also has Bill the Galactic Hero under his belt. Okay, these were better when he did all the work alone, without collaboration. But still, would it not be great to be able to shake hands with yourself?

FANTASY RULES
Nothing beats getting wrapped up in a series of books in a Fantasy Realm. Since the Lord of the Rings, I knew this to be a fact of life. Most of my book collection is Fantasy. I just love to be taken to a world of Honor and Magic. No other books can take you so far away, and let's face it, that's the only reason to read any type of fiction...it's the Great Escape.
The sheer numbers of Fantasy series is astounding. Some of the better ones that I have read are: The Riftwar Saga, the Elric books, The Belgariad, The Dragonlance Series (the first nine books), The Guardians of the Flame, The Wuntvor and Ebenizum trilogies (Fantasy can be funny, too), and perhaps the best I have read, The Wheel of Time (I am half way thru the seventh book). As you can see, the writers of this type of work have found out that you need more than one book to make a world come alive. I have read a few 'single' titles, but I would suggest to get lost in a work consisting of more than one book. If you want to suggest some titles, or want more information on any of the works I have mentioned, feel free to e-mail me.
